When it comes to car maintenance in the cold weather, there are a few critical elements that you should always be aware of as you drive from point A to point B. One of those critical elements is how well your tires are functioning on the road during different weather conditions. Are you really sure you know when to replace them? What are the signs that it’s time for a new set? Should you buy specific tires that do better in winter weather?
Here are three important indicators new tires should be on your priority list when winter weather is in full force:
Here are three important indicators new tires should be on your priority list when winter weather is in full force:
- Tread – Have you ever really gotten down to look at your tires to examine the tread? This is one of the best indicators that you may need new tires. If the tread is worn down – or it is wearing unevenly – your tires may not be performing as well as they could and put you at risk on wet and snowy roads.
- Low Tire Indicator – Changes in the temperature outside and/or faulty sensors can cause your tires to lose pressure. However, if you’re constantly airing up your tires because the low tire indicator keeps coming on, this could be a sign that something is wrong. New tires ready for winter weather are your best bet.
- Alignment – Has it been a while since your last alignment, and your car isn’t really stable on the road? Did you know this can result in poor wear on your tires and less control on the road? You don’t want to take risks when it comes to driving in poor road conditions, so having an alignment can help you maximize your control. Additionally, the next time you have an alignment done, have your tire wear checked, as well to make sure you don’t need a new set.
